Congratulations to Liberty High School senior Lorrin Johnson who was recently awarded a $2500 Seeds for Scholars scholarship from Cedar Grove. The “Seeds for Scholars” scholarship recognized Lorrin’s interest, action, and achievement in issues surrounding sustainability and the environment. The scholarship also includes an opportunity for Lorrin to be interviewed for a summer internship at Cedar Grove and an interview for every summer thereafter while she is in college.

“Liberty High School is grateful to have outstanding student and strong leader, Lorrin Johnson, recognized and rewarded not only through a very generous college scholarship, but with an added opportunity of an internship offering a young graduate important real world experience,” shared Judy Co, Liberty High School Career Specialist. “The optimism and enthusiasm of a young person entering their next stage of life is full of excitement, and for Lorrin to be able to contribute to a local, family-owned company willing to develop homegrown talent is heart-warming, wise, and the essence of community.”

This fall, Johnson will attend the University of Washington. Karen Dawson, Cedar Grove Director of Marketing and Community Relations shared, “Cedar Grove is committed to the communities where we operate and we are honored to have the opportunity to partner with the Renton community through this scholarship and through soil donations to school and community gardens all year long.”
