Posted by User Not Found on 2 June, 2016

Congratulations to Liberty High School Sports Medicine students who recently competed against 46 area high school teams at the Washington State Sports Medicine Competition. At this year’s conference students competed as individuals or teams in a variety of sports medicine disciplines that included: General Sports Medicine Tests, Practical Skill Specialists, Medical Term Specialists, Anatomy and Physiology Specialists, Emergency Responder Specialists, Exercise Physiology, and Quiz Bowls.

As a whole, the Liberty Sports Medicine team finished 20th in the competition, and 5th within their division. The divisional finish qualified the team for the National Competition in May.

Individual highlights included: Jenafer Johanson placing 65th in the Oral Practicum category; Lauren Whiteley and Jayme Shaw placing 7th and 8th in the CPR category; and Dulin Hayden finishing 16th in the Exercise Physiology category.

Mort Orren, Liberty High School Sports Medicine Teacher shared, "I could not be more proud of how our Patriots performed! Without any prior experience at this event, Kristina Chao, Dulin Hayden, Lauren Whiteley, Jenafer Johanson, Jayme Shaw, Jaida Woo, Steph McCarty, Keelan Masterson, Savannah Metzger, Maddy Smith, Sienna Rice, Khanh Nguyen, Parker Sayers, and Nick Tredway performed exceptionally well. These students are ready to take on the National test and are already chomping at the bit to compete again next year!”
