Posted by User Not Found on 5 February, 2015

Congratulations to Pravir Chugh for winning the Newcastle Elementary School Geography Bee for the second year in a row. Pravir competed against fellow classmates from fourth and fifth grade during a school-wide assembly. All participants had previously competed in their classrooms for one of the ten finalist spots in the competition. The ten finalists included Leon Banh, Pravir Chugh, Daniel Flash, Rachel Hoki, Alex Lamtagne, Dhruv Naik, Morgan Ringwood, Jacob Rubenstein, Hunter Scheppat, and Jensen Wolff. Principal Mellish hosted the Geography Bee, and after an outstanding effort by all ten finalists, the championship round came down to Leon Banh and Pravir Chugh. In the end, Pravir earned the title of school champion. After the competition, Pravir took a written test provided by the National Geographic Society. The top 100 students in Washington State, selected based on qualifying test scores, will represent their schools in the State competition.
