Skyline High School and Eastlake High School Take Part in Second Annual Presidential Cup Gaelic Football Tournament

Posted by Elizabeth Egan on 19 October, 2017
Skyline High School and Eastlake High School are continuing the tradition of teaching Gaelic Football as part of their Physical Education courses. On October 19 classes from the two high schools met at Skyline High School and took part in the second annual Presidential Cup Gaelic Football Tournament. The Presidential Cup was gifted to the two schools during the President of Ireland’s official visit to Skyline High School in 2015. The Cup is awarded to the winner of the tournament and remains at the victor’s school until the following year’s contest.

At the conclusion of the match, John Keane, Ireland’s honorary Counsul for Seattle, represented the President of Ireland for the presentation of the Presidential Cup. The Cup is awarded on a point total of four matches. This year Eastlake High School won the Cup.

Skyline’s team was coached by PE Teacher Brendan Hyland, and Eastlake’s team was coached by PE Teacher Patrick Parnell. Terence Lynch with Cascade Youth Gaelic Games officiated the tournament.
