My name is Jeff McGowan and I am the proud Principal of Pacific Cascade Middle School. I have been with the Issaquah School District since 2004 as an Asst. Principal of Skyline High School and Asst. Principal of PCMS, and now Principal. I hold an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Idaho and a Master's Degree from Western Washington University. I have also been a middle school teacher in the South Kitsap and Shoreline School District, prior to coming to Issaquah. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children, traveling, and listening to Bruce Springsteen.
At PCMS we are focused on using deep content knowledge to develop critical thinking skills through inquiry, integration of ideas, and application of learning. Additionally, we make knowing and meeting our students' academic and social needs a top priority. At the very core of our beliefs is the importance of building relationships with each other and developing a strong sense of community where everyone belongs. We pride ourselves in the diversity within our school community, where every student is treated with kindness, and are respected and supported in a way that serves them best. I greatly value talking with you and listening to your feedback, questions, and insights and look forward to partnering with each of you in your child's education.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you or your students' needs any support.
My name is Kathryn Coffin, and it is a privilege and an honor to be a part of the Pacific Cascade team. My family, (husband, Ben, daughter, Ella and, son, Freddy) and I call the Sammamish community home. We love the Pacific Northwest, and we especially enjoy bike riding, hiking and running. We are huge Seattle sports fans – even the teams that don’t always do very well J
This year marks my 17th year in education. I began my educational career as a math and science teacher in the Issaquah School District. I have varied experience as a teacher and school leader. For the first 10 years of my career I served at both the elementary and middle school levels, teaching a variety of grades and content areas (even spending three winters teaching kindergarten in Wisconsin – brrrr!) In addition to my time as a classroom teacher, I also served for four years at the district level in the Teaching and Learning department as the ISD Math Specialist. The last three years I have had the privilege of supporting teachers and students as an assistant principal.
I love serving as an assistant principal! My passion is developing positive relationships with everyone within the community, working with students as they grow, supporting teachers and staff so that they can reach their greatest potential, strengthening a connection between school and home, and a fostering a positive school culture. I work closely with our school counselor, Jessica Morrison to support our 8th graders. At our core, we know that the school to home partnership is what allows us to provide an extraordinary school experience for all students. So parents, especially parents of 8th grade students, please feel free to reach out to me with questions, concerns or celebrations. The best way to reach me is via email. I look forward to meeting each of you (albeit, virtually) and learning how I can best support you throughout this unique year, and many more to come.
My name is Mr. Stookey and I joined Pacific Cascade Middle School in 2018, for a total of 10 years in the ISD and 12 years in education overall. I grew up in Spokane Washington and attended school in the Spokane Valley, graduating from East Valley High School.
I graduated from Washington State University with a degree in teaching and graduated from Seattle University with a Masters in Education and Administrator certificate.
I view a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. I believes partnerships with parents and community are essential to enriching the experience at Pacific Cascade Middle School.
I enjoy spending time with my wife, who also is a teacher in the Issaquah School district, and my two wonderful children.
I am and will always be a dedicated Mariner Fan.
