What is Junior Honor Society?
Junior Honor Society is an club that recognizes and encourages academic achievement while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy. The JHS member reflects outstanding accomplishment in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship, and service.
Students who have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.7 or higher after the first trimester of 8thgrade will be invited to join the PCMS Junior Honor Society Club. The invitation to join will be sent to students’ homes in December, and the acceptance forms will be due just after winter break. Students who are interested will also have the opportunity to run for an executive council position. 7th graders will have the opportunity to join in December of their 8th grade year if they have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher.
In addition to maintaining or improving their GPA, Honor Society members will be asked to complete eight hours of community service by April 27th. Members are required to attend at least 4 of the 5 meetings in order to be inducted. There is also an expectation that students will not have a suspension, expulsion or final “F” grade in class due to cheating or plagiarizing. Students who meet all of these requirements will receive a certificate at the 8th grade promotion in June.
We look forward to meeting and working with this year's Junior Honor
Society members!
